Cooking with the Year 9s

Today we cooked self saucing puddings. They were really sweet but yummy. Great work girls!

Here's the recipe:

Microwave Self-Saucing
Chocolate Pudding in a Cup

Pudding

1.      In a cup combine

  • 1.5 tbsp self-raising flour
  • 1.5 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1.5 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1.5 tbsp milk
  • 1.5 tbsp oil
  • ½ egg

2.      spoon mix until smooth.

Topping

3.      Sprinkle
  • 1/2 tbsp cocoa
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

on top, then carefully pour on

  • 1 tbsp hot water.

Put it on a saucer—it might overflow—and microwave for 1 minute. Time may vary based on the power of your microwave, try less if this doesn't work for you. You want it to look cakey on top but still be liquid underneath.

Enjoy!

Puke Ariki Visit

We had a wonderful time at Puke Ariki and learned about Puanga (the star which shows the starts of Maori new year in Taranaki) and Taonga Puoro (Maori musical instruments). The students learnt some new games and songs at the same time as learning new facts.

Here are some photos:
