Check out this cool science experiment video to see proof that carbon dioxide is heavier than air.
Today , our Esol class will do a little fun Science Experiment .
Aim: In this experiment, I want to demonstrate that Carbon Dioxide is heavier than the air.
Hypothesis: I want to get the Carbon Dioxide, pour it onto a glass and pour it onto the candle to stop the candle burning.
Equipment: The equipment we need to do this experiment is 2 tall glasses, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, 1 tablespoon of vinegar, candle and matches.
Method: Firstly, we put 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of vinegar into one glass. It fizzes up so we have to wait until the bubbles come down. And we pour the Carbon Dioxide gas into another glass without pouring the liquid. So the Carbon Dioxide is heavier than the air so we can pour it down, if it is lighter, it will fly up. We then poured the carbon dioxide from the second glass into the candle.
Results: The candle stopped burning because Carbon Dioxide stops fire.
Safety/Risks: However, we have to be careful when we do this experiment because we might burn the house :))
Conclusion: I had been successful proving that Carbon Dioxide is heavier than the air :D
